Uncovering Navien: A Review of Three Tankless Water Heaters
With the abundance of tankless water heaters in the market, the task of choosing the right product has become a challenge for most consumers. Regardless of whether one aims to purchase a tankless water heater to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle or merely to take advantage of tax credits, purchasing the ideal tankless water heater should never be a cumbersome endeavor. For most, purchasing a Navien tankless water heater would be the best course of action. Those in the process of choosing a particular model should read this short review of several Navien water heaters to arrive at better decisions.
Among Navien’s water heaters, the NP-240A remains to be the most capable. With an energy factor of 0.95 for natural gas and 0.97 for propane gas, most tankless water heaters would never be able to compete with the NP-240A in terms of efficiency. It is also vital to point out that this Navien tankless water heater has flow rates that range from 5.1 to 11 GPM. Such flow rates are almost on par with industrial water heating solutions. As one would expect with these features though, the NP-240A Navien tankless water heater is quite expensive as it is usually priced at roughly $1800.
While not capable of the providing the same flow rate, the NP-210A is still a well-designed water heating solution. In particular, the NP-210A Navien tankless water heater can achieve a flow rate of 10 GPM in warm regions. When installed in colder areas, it can still provide hot water at a rate of 4.6 GPM. Those worried about differences in energy efficiency would be pleased to know that the NP-210A has the same energy factor values as the NP-240A. With minimal distinctions between Navien tankless water heater models though, it is not surprising to find out that the price of such models only differ by a few hundred dollars.
The NR-180A is the least expensive in Navien’s line of tankless water heaters. Commonly sold for just $1100, most consumers would find it to be a most tempting option. With such a gap in price though, the NR-180A Navien tankless water heater also offers significantly lower flow rates. Ranging from 3.8 to 8.3 GPM, the NR-180A would only be a suitable water heating solution for small to average-sized abodes. It is quite interesting to note though, that this particular Navien tankless water heater trumps both the NP-240A and the NP-210A in terms of natural gas efficiency.
Purchasing a tankless water heater for one’s home need not be a tricky pursuit. One only needs to assess available options based on flow rate, efficiency, and of course, cost. Among the Navien tankless water heater models reviewed, the NP-180A would surely be a cost-effective choice for those with minimal water heating needs. Alternatively, the NP-240A should be a suitable option for most homes due to its high flow rates. The NP-210A however, cannot be recommended as a smart choice unless its price is significantly lowered. All in all, purchasing a water heater should be as simple as choosing between the NP-180A and the NP-240A.
